Book storageWalsall's pianos
St Matthew's Church stands on the hill above Walsall town centre, visible from Caldmore, Highgate and the terraced streets that run down toward the canal. It is what residents here mean when they say they are back in the middle of town. Around that hill and out through the wider WS area, a large number of pianos sit in front rooms whose purpose has changed since the instrument arrived. Children's lessons have ended, households have downsized, and families are working out what to do with an upright that has not been played in years.
Walsall is 70 miles from our climate-controlled Oxfordshire facility, making it one of the more accessible West Midlands towns on our route. The instrument is collected by a specialist crew on Monday, travels to the store the same day, and is held in insured, temperature-stable conditions for as long as you need it. Re-delivery goes to any GB mainland or Belfast address whenever you are ready.

Collection day
We collect across WS postcodes every Monday. WS1 covers Walsall town centre, Bescot, Caldmore, New Mills, Palfrey and The Chuckery. The Monday route extends across the nearby WS districts as well, including Pleck, Bentley, Leamore and Birchills in WS2, and Wednesbury, Darlaston, Friar Park, Moxley, The Woods and King's Hill in WS10. The full list of areas and villages is set out in the section below.
We confirm a three-hour target window the evening before your Monday collection. Stair access at your property is assessed and costed clearly when you book online, so you know the full figure before you confirm. Stairs are chargeable, and that charge is agreed at booking rather than added on the day. If Monday cannot work, an off-day collection can be arranged for an additional charge.
Villages and districts
WS1 is the core Walsall district: town centre, Bescot, Caldmore, New Mills, Palfrey and The Chuckery. WS2 covers Pleck, Bentley, Leamore and Birchills, the residential areas running north-west from the town centre. WS4 takes in Ryecroft, Daw End, Rushall and Shelfield, the quieter neighbourhoods stretching out toward the Lichfield Road corridor.
WS5 covers Yew Tree and The Delves to the south-east of town. WS10 is the larger outlying district, covering Wednesbury, Darlaston, Friar Park, Moxley, The Woods and King's Hill. All of these areas fall within our Monday route. If your postcode begins WS, you are on the route, and the online booking form confirms it automatically as you enter your postcode.
Why storage conditions matter
A significant share of properties across Caldmore, Highgate and the streets between the town centre and the canal were built in the Victorian and Edwardian periods. These are well-built homes, but many have older heating systems, variable insulation and humidity levels that shift noticeably through the year. A piano in those conditions drifts out of tune as the soundboard swells and contracts, and the tuning pins and action components suffer over time. The longer the instrument stays in a difficult environment, the harder and more costly it becomes to bring it back into good order.
An ordinary self-storage unit does not improve matters. Temperature and humidity in a standard unit follow the outdoor seasons, so the piano faces the same conditions it had at home. Our Oxfordshire facility holds both at a stable level throughout the year. Full insurance covers the instrument from the moment our specialist crew arrives in Walsall to collect it, through every week it is with us, and through to re-delivery.
Who uses the service
Families whose piano has outgrown its place in the house account for a large share of enquiries from across the WS area. An upright bought for children who have grown and moved on now occupies a room the owners want to use differently, or a property is being sold and the instrument needs a safe home while the next move settles. We collect on Monday, store it properly, and re-deliver to any GB mainland or Belfast address when you are ready.
Probate and estate work is a steady part of what we handle from Walsall. When a piano belonging to a parent or grandparent needs to be held securely while an estate resolves, the instrument can be collected without the executor being present on the day, provided access details are given at booking. The crew handles everything, and the piano is insured throughout.
Schools across the WS districts with an instrument between halls, and private teachers moving between studios, are regular callers too. A few months in climate-controlled storage between venues goes through exactly the same booking as a household collection.
Pricing for Walsall
Prices include collection, climate-controlled storage and full insurance. Stairs without a lift and off-day collections are priced transparently in the booking. Re-delivery is quoted when you are ready for the piano back.
