Areas we cover
We collect pianos from Shrewsbury and across the SY postcode area, store them in our climate-controlled Oxfordshire facility on full insurance, and return them when you are ready.
Book storageCounty town and county seat
Shrewsbury sits inside one of the most complete medieval street plans in England, built within a horseshoe loop of the River Severn. The old town's timber-framed buildings, Georgian townhouses and Victorian terraces now hold a mix of private homes, schools and businesses, and the access constraints that come with listed status and narrow lanes make moving a piano carefully a serious job. When a renovation, probate, house sale or a period away puts the instrument temporarily between homes, we collect it.
Shropshire beyond Shrewsbury is a county of market towns and rural properties spread across a wide and varied landscape. Whitchurch to the north, Oswestry toward the Welsh border, Church Stretton in the Long Mynd hills, Ludlow in the south: each of these communities holds pianos in farmhouses, village halls and family homes. Schools and music departments across the county, including the boarding schools and prep schools that bring families to Shrewsbury from a wide area, use us when buildings are refurbished or instrument pools need to be safely held between terms.

Collection day
We run our Shrewsbury and Shropshire collections on Tuesdays. A fixed weekly day keeps the route consistent and the cost predictable. We confirm a three-hour target window the day before so you are not waiting all morning for the crew to arrive. If a Tuesday genuinely cannot work, an off-day collection can be arranged for an added charge.
If the piano is up a steep staircase in an old Shrewsbury townhouse or in a building with restricted access at a rural Shropshire property, that access is priced clearly in the online booking before you confirm anything. There are no surprises on the day.
Why climate-controlled storage
Shrewsbury's historic buildings are beautiful and often demanding. Stone and timber construction holds cold in winter and can be damp in the months when the Severn is high. A piano left in a spare room that is rarely heated loses pitch steadily and, over a longer period, can suffer cracked soundboards and seized action. Rural properties across Shropshire face the same challenge at greater scale: a farmhouse piano in a cold front room, or an upright that has stood untouched in a village hall for years, is more fragile than it looks once conditions change.
Our storage facility in Oxfordshire keeps temperature and humidity within the stable range a piano needs throughout the year. Your instrument is fully insured from the moment we collect it to the day we return it, the building is monitored around the clock, and there is no public access. A few weeks between completions, a full year while building work continues, or an open-ended period while probate is settled all work the same way.
Area coverage
The SY postcode area covers Shrewsbury itself and a wide arc of Shropshire and the Welsh border country. We collect from central Shrewsbury, the suburbs at Meole Brace, Copthorne, Harlescott and Sundorne, and from the surrounding market towns: Whitchurch to the north, Oswestry and Ellesmere to the northwest, Church Stretton, Craven Arms and Ludlow to the south, and Bishops Castle and the hill country to the southwest. The SY postcode extends west into parts of mid-Wales and we collect from those communities on the same Tuesday route.
If you are not certain whether your postcode falls on the Tuesday collection, the online booking form checks your address and confirms it before you submit anything.
What we store
We store upright pianos, baby grands, full grands and concert grands. We also take digital pianos, stage pianos and keyboards, and we can hold a stool, lid or cover alongside the instrument in the same booking. If you have a particularly large or valuable instrument, call or email before booking and we will confirm the details.
Pricing for Shrewsbury
Prices include collection, climate-controlled storage and full insurance. Stairs without a lift and off-day collections are priced transparently in the booking. Re-delivery is quoted when you are ready for the piano back.
