A city that moves a lot of pianos

Why Southampton households and institutions store with us

Southampton is a working port city with a large university, a strong music scene and a housing stock that ranges from Edwardian terraces a street from the waterfront to new-builds out toward Hedge End and Chandler's Ford. Pianos end up needing storage here for all kinds of reasons: a family in Highfield putting the house on the market, an academic at the University of Southampton heading off on a placement year, a retired professional in Bassett downsizing to a flat with no room for the upright.

The SO postcode stretches well beyond the city itself, covering Eastleigh, Romsey, Totton, Hythe and the villages that run out toward the New Forest. Our specialist piano crews collect from all of it.

Collection day

Fridays across Southampton and the SO postcodes

We collect in Southampton every Friday. A Friday slot suits families who want a weekend to settle in without the piano in the way, and students clearing out at the end of a year. We confirm a three-hour target window the evening before so you know when to expect us.

If the piano is on an upper floor, whether in a student house near Portswood or a Victorian terrace in Shirley, stair access is priced clearly in the online booking before you confirm anything. If Friday does not suit, an off-day collection can be arranged for an added charge.

Why specialist storage matters here

Coastal air and old houses are hard on a piano

Southampton sits where the Test and Itchen meet the Solent. The damp that rises from the waterways finds its way into older properties, and pianos left in a spare bedroom or a garage that is not properly heated and ventilated suffer for it. Soundboards crack, pin blocks swell, and actions seize. A piano that spent the winter in an unheated room near the water will almost always need significant work before it plays well again.

Our facility holds a steady temperature and humidity throughout the year. From the moment our crew collects the instrument to the moment they bring it back to you, it is fully insured and held in conditions that suit it. The store is monitored around the clock.

What we store

Every instrument the music room holds

We take uprights, baby grands and full concert grands, plus the keyboards, organs and related instruments that often need somewhere to go at the same time.

Questions

Which day do you collect in Southampton?

Southampton and the SO postcode area are collected every Friday. We confirm a three-hour target window the evening before. If Friday genuinely does not work, an off-day collection can be arranged for an additional charge.

Which areas do your SO collections cover?

We cover the full SO postcode area, including Southampton city centre, Shirley, Highfield, Bassett, Portswood, Bitterne, Woolston, Eastleigh, Chandler's Ford, Hedge End, Bishop's Waltham, Totton, Romsey and the villages out toward the New Forest. The online booking tool will confirm coverage for your exact address.

Do you collect from student flats and rented properties near the university?

Yes. We collect from rented houses, flats and university accommodation regularly. If there are stairs or a narrow hallway, note it when booking and it will be costed clearly before you confirm. Our specialist piano crews are experienced with awkward access and tight staircases.

Is there a minimum storage period?

No. You can store for a few weeks, an academic year, or indefinitely. You pay for the time the piano is with us, and there is no penalty for bringing it back sooner than planned.

Is the piano insured while it is in storage?

Yes. The instrument is fully insured from the moment our crew collects it, throughout its time in our climate-controlled facility, and until we return it to you. The store is monitored around the clock.

Can you collect from towns like Eastleigh, Romsey or Hedge End?

Yes. Our Friday collections cover the full SO postcode area. Eastleigh, Chandler's Ford, Romsey, Hedge End, Totton, Hythe and the surrounding towns and villages are all included. The online booking will show exact pricing for your address.
