Areas we cover
We collect pianos from Basildon, Pitsea, Wickford, Laindon and the surrounding SS postcodes every Tuesday, store them in climate-controlled conditions in Oxfordshire, and return them when you are ready.
Book storageNew town, real roots
Basildon was built in the late 1940s and 1950s to rehouse families from bomb-damaged streets in the East End, but the instruments that came with those households often predate the town by decades. A Victorian cottage upright that made the move from Poplar or Stepney, or a baby grand that found its way into a Fryerns semi in the 1960s, can be as old as any piano we collect from the countryside. The town may have been planned, but the homes and their contents have accumulated real history.
Today Gloucester Park still marks the heart of Basildon the way an old market square marks a medieval town: everyone has been there, everyone knows it, and the estate agents use it as a compass point. Families here downsize, renovate, move abroad for work, deal with probate or simply run out of room. When a piano has to leave home for a while, our crew is in the SS postcodes every Tuesday.

Collection day
Our South Essex route runs every Tuesday, covering Basildon town centre, Fryerns, Barstable, Pipps Hill, Cranes and Ghyllgrove in SS14, plus Wickford, Pitsea, Laindon, Vange, Langdon Hills and the surrounding districts. We confirm a three-hour target window the evening before so you can plan around it without waiting all day.
If Tuesday genuinely cannot work, an off-day collection can be arranged for an added charge. Any access involving stairs, a narrow hallway or a second-floor flat is priced clearly in the online booking before you confirm, so there are no surprises on collection day.
Villages and districts we collect from
Within SS14 we collect from Fryerns, Barstable, Pipps Hill, Cranes and Ghyllgrove. The Tuesday route also takes in the nearby districts: CM11 (South Green, Great Burstead, Sunnymede, Ramsden Bellhouse, Crays Hill and Ramsden Heath), SS12 (Wickford and Nevendon), SS13 (Felmore, Pitsea, Burnt Mills, Eversley, Chalvedon and North Benfleet), SS15 (Laindon, Lee Chapel North, Noak Bridge, Steeple View and Southfields) and SS16 (Vange, Langdon Hills, Kingswood, Great Berry and Lee Chapel South).
If your postcode begins SS and is not listed here, contact us. Our South Essex coverage is broad and the Tuesday route almost always reaches an SS address that needs us.
90 miles to steady conditions
Our climate-controlled storage facility is in Oxfordshire, 90 miles from Basildon. That is close enough to make re-delivery straightforward but far enough to put your piano in conditions that South Essex homes rarely offer. The Thames Estuary brings salt air and high humidity from the east, and properties close to the waterways or on low-lying ground in Laindon and Vange can be genuinely damp in winter. A standard room or a garage unit does not protect an instrument from that.
In our facility, temperature and humidity are held at consistent levels throughout the year. Your piano is fully insured from the moment we collect it, and the store is monitored around the clock. There is no minimum term and no fixed commitment: you book re-delivery when it suits you, whether that is three months or three years.
What we store
We store every type of piano from a compact student upright to a concert grand, along with digital pianos, keyboards and other music equipment that often needs to move alongside the piano.
Pricing for Basildon SS
Prices include collection, climate-controlled storage and full insurance. Stairs without a lift and off-day collections are priced transparently in the booking. Re-delivery is quoted when you are ready for the piano back.
