Areas we cover
We collect pianos from Portsmouth, Southsea, Gosport, Havant and across the mainland PO area on Fridays, hold them in climate-controlled storage with full insurance, and return them when you are ready.
Book storageA city that moves
Portsmouth is the only island city in England, and it shows in how often its residents need to move. A large share of the population has ties to the Royal Navy or the wider defence sector, and service families relocate with a regularity that most cities never experience. A posting overseas, a transition between bases, or a move at the end of a commission all produce the same problem: the piano cannot come with us right now and it needs proper care in the meantime.
The University of Portsmouth creates its own seasonal rhythm. Students finishing a course, academics taking sabbaticals, and families clearing a rented house each summer all need a short or medium-term home for the instrument. Add the steady flow from the Victorian and Edwardian terraces in Southsea, Fratton and Copnor, where families are renovating, downsizing or dealing with an estate, and the need is constant across the year.

Collection day
We collect from Portsmouth and the wider PO postcode area on Fridays. Running one dedicated day per area keeps the route consistent and the cost fair. We confirm a three-hour target window the day before, so you are not tied to the house for the whole day. If a Friday genuinely will not work, an off-day collection can be arranged for an added charge.
The PO area on the Friday run covers Portsmouth city and Southsea, Cosham and north Portsmouth, Gosport and Lee-on-the-Solent across the harbour, Fareham, Havant, Emsworth, Waterlooville, Horndean, Petersfield, and the coast east to Chichester and Bognor Regis. We cover mainland addresses only, so the Isle of Wight is not on this route.
Stairs are the norm in Portsmouth terraces, and they are priced clearly in the online booking before you confirm anything. Our specialist piano crews handle them regularly and there will be no surprises on the day.
The Solent climate
Portsmouth sits between the Solent to the south and Portsmouth Harbour to the west, and the marine air it draws in is persistent. That damp works into Victorian brickwork and plaster, and into the wooden structure of any piano left in an unheated room through autumn and winter. Soundboards swell, tuning drifts, felt in the action absorbs moisture until the keys feel sluggish, and the cabinet can crack and bubble when the heating comes back on.
Our climate-controlled facility holds a steady temperature and relative humidity throughout the year. The protection it offers is the same whether the piano sits with us for three weeks between moves or three years while a service family is posted away. The instrument is fully insured from the moment our crew collects it, through every day in storage, to the moment we return it. The site is monitored around the clock with no public access.
Area coverage
We collect across all mainland PO postcodes on the Friday run. That includes Portsmouth city, Southsea, Portsea and Hilsea, Gosport and Lee-on-the-Solent, Fareham, Portchester and Stubbington, Havant, Emsworth and Hayling Island, Waterlooville and Horndean, Petersfield, and eastward to Chichester and Bognor Regis.
For collections from University of Portsmouth student accommodation, private rentals near the campus or staff houses, we work to whatever access arrangements you give us when booking. There is no minimum term for a student needing storage during a placement year or long vacation.
What we take in
We store upright pianos, baby grands, grands and concert grands. Digital and stage pianos and keyboards travel in the same booking. Piano stools, pedal boards and boxed sheet music can come with the instrument. If you have an unusual access situation or an instrument you would like to discuss before booking, contact us and we will confirm.
Pricing for Portsmouth
Prices include collection, climate-controlled storage and full insurance. Stairs without a lift and off-day collections are priced transparently in the booking. Re-delivery is quoted when you are ready for the piano back.

Yes, and this is one of the most common reasons Portsmouth families call us. There is no fixed term. The piano can stay with us for as long as the posting lasts, billed in four-weekly cycles, and we return it to whatever mainland address you give us when you are settled again.
Yes. Our specialist piano crews work in Portsmouth terraces regularly and are well used to steep internal stairs, tight hallways and front doors with very little clearance. Stair access is priced in the online booking form before you confirm, so there are no surprises on the day.
We collect regularly on behalf of executors and solicitors. There is no minimum term, so the piano can stay with us while probate is resolved and the family decides what to do with it. It is fully insured throughout and we return it to wherever you direct us when you are ready.
Yes. We collect from student houses, private rentals and accommodation across Portsmouth. There is no minimum term. Whether you are storing the piano over a long vacation, a placement year or the rest of your course, you pay only for the time it is with us.
