Areas we cover
City-centre apartments, Victorian terraces and rural West Yorkshire homes: we collect across the full LS postcode range, store every piano in climate-controlled conditions, and return it when you are ready.
Book storageA city that has changed quickly
The apartment boom along the Leeds waterfront and in Holbeck, Granary Wharf, Brewery Wharf and the South Bank has put a large number of pianos into buildings that were never designed to take them. A Yamaha upright on the fifth floor of a converted mill building. A baby grand that came across on probate from a house in Roundhay and has been sitting in a one-bedroom in Quarry Hill ever since. A digital stage piano belonging to a Leeds Conservatoire student sharing a flat near the Merrion Centre. All of them reach a point where they need to move out, and the city-centre logistics that delivered them in make collection the tricky part.
Outside the city core, West Yorkshire stretches from the commuter villages around Wetherby and Ilkley out through Garforth, Morley and Rothwell, and the LS postcodes cover a geography as varied as the people who live there. Whether the piano is on a narrow landing in a back-to-back off Brudenell Road, in a converted barn near Otley, or in the ground floor of a new development off Sovereign Street, we collect it the same way.

City-centre collection
Most city-centre apartment blocks in Leeds LS1, LS2, LS10 and LS11 have no on-street parking anywhere near the loading entrance. The communal lifts are rarely sized for a full upright, and the corridors on upper floors were designed to building regulation minimums. Our specialist crews know this and work through it: we check the building's access and parking arrangements before we arrive, we arrive with the right lifting and rigging equipment, and when the lift genuinely cannot take the piano we carry it by stair and manage the wrapping and protection throughout.
If there is a loading bay, a managed car park or a residents-only access point that makes things easier, tell us when you book and we factor it in. Anything that involves stairs is priced clearly in the online booking before you confirm. Nothing arrives as a surprise on collection day.
Musicians and students
Leeds Conservatoire draws students from across the country who arrive in the city with an instrument they cannot always keep in student accommodation. When a course ends or a placement moves them on, the piano needs a reliable home for a period that may be a single term or a couple of years. The same applies to working musicians connected to Opera North at the Leeds Grand Theatre, or those whose work takes them on the road and leaves a piano sitting in a flat it is no longer practical to heat.
City Varieties Music Hall, the Leeds Playhouse and a long-established community of teaching studios and music services across the LS area add to a community of instrument owners who use storage as a practical tool rather than a last resort. There is no minimum storage period with us, so the calendar of a musician's year fits the service rather than the other way round.
Why climate conditions matter
A standard self-storage unit in Leeds will heat and cool with the weather outside. In winter the relative humidity inside rises, and in a cold dry spell it drops sharply. A piano exposed to those swings over several months ends up with a soundboard that has moved, glue joints that have shifted, and tuning pins that have lost some of their grip. The damage is cumulative and often not visible until the instrument is tuned again.
Our facility holds temperature and humidity at the stable levels a piano needs, consistently, regardless of the season. A piano that arrives in autumn comes out in spring in the same condition. Full insurance covers the instrument from collection to re-delivery, and the facility is monitored around the clock.
West Yorkshire coverage
The LS postcodes span a wide area. City centre and inner suburbs from LS1 through LS12 cover the areas most people think of as Leeds. From LS13 outward the city gives way to Bramley, Farsley, Horsforth and Yeadon to the west. LS14 and LS15 cover Seacroft, Swarcliffe and Crossgates to the east. Further out, LS17 takes in Moortown and Shadwell, LS18 Horsforth, and LS22 Wetherby. Ilkley, Otley and Guiseley sit at the outer edges of the LS area in LS21, LS29 and LS20. We collect from all of them on the same Thursday route.
Nearby areas served by adjacent collection days link to this one: Bradford (BD postcodes), Wakefield (WF) and Huddersfield and Halifax (HD and HX) each have their own pages and their own days, so if the postcode is outside the LS range, one of those pages will cover you.
What we store

Yes. Full insurance runs from the moment our crew collects the instrument, through every week in our climate-controlled facility, to re-delivery. The store is monitored around the clock.
Yes. We handle estate and probate situations regularly. You do not need to be present for every step. Tell us the access arrangements when you book and we take it from there, keeping the instrument safe and insured until you are ready for it to be delivered on.
